The Kingfisher is open daily except Sunday and Monday, serving fairly traded teas, coffees, drinking chocolate and cocoa, supplemented by a mouth watering menu of baguettes, scones, teacakes, cakes and biscuits - made from organic flour milled at nearby Botton! Homemade soups, omelettes and quiches are here to tempt you further as are filled jacket potatoes, salads and toasties.

The refreshment emphasis, both cafe and takeaway, is on organic, locally sourced produce and, wherever possible, we offer fair trade coffees and teas resulting in our suppliers and their employees receiving fair recompense.  Owned by The Camphill Trust and adopting the philosophy and values of Rudolph Steiner, at The Kingfisher, we have a reputation for providing our customers with real value – and enjoyment!

All are welcome and there is a true emphasis on the family here with lots of children’s favourite food and drinks, and children’s portions, on offer.  There are baby changing facilities with high chairs and toys to keep them entertained whilst you enjoy your coffee etc.  We also have disabled access and facilities.

But The Kingfisher is more than just a (very appealing) cafe.  The bookshop has a variety of children’s books on sale as well as an excellent choice of adult fiction and non-fiction material and, if we have not got what you want in stock, we will order it for you.  Books are of course ideal gifts but there are many other ideas for Christmas, birthdays etc; in the gift shop – another attractive area of this particular Kingfisher’s ‘nest’!
